  • Each year, Mrs. Black provides us with opportunities to participate in several curriculum-based outreach projects. There are links to our community service projects, by year, across the top of this page.
  • Mrs. Black mentors student teachers from Lakehead University each year. She has also shared our outreach projects with classes at Lakehead University Faculty of Education, several times, and presented at a Simcoe Board outdoor education conference in January 2016.
  • Outside school, Mrs. Black is on the board at Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, assists three wildlife sanctuaries and the Orillia SPCA with the transport and release of orphaned and injured wildlife, established a fund that has enabled over 200 underprivileged children to attend day camp at the Wye Marsh since 2003, and has been a monitor with the Ontario Trumpeter Swan Reintroduction Program since 2002.

Your classroom is awesome! I am a 3/4 teacher in Rockglen Sask. I also love to put our desks in a similar arrangement that encourages speaking and showing eye contact for good listening. You are an inspiration to me. Keep up your great work!😊
